Morning Sun Elementary is located in the heart of Louisa County.

 

Our school is a K-6 building with single grade level sections with the average class size of 17 students. We offer a four day a week preschool and have a daycare in our building. The 13 dedicated teachers average 16.5 years of experience teaching at Morning Sun.

Morning Sun has earned a Commendable rating on the Iowa School Report the three previous school years.

Other highlights of Morning Sun include:

  • 1:1 with electronic devices 2nd – 6th grade.

  • Spanish classes for Kindergarten – 6th grade

  • Fully equipped Science Laboratory

  • Onsite Prairie for outdoor learning

  • Partnership with Louisa County Conservation and Junior Achievement

  • Guidance Lessons provided twice a week

  • Free Summer Lunch Program

At the end of their 6th grade year, Morning Sun students have the choice to  further their secondary education at Winfield-Mt. Union or Wapello.
